 “On Rites of Resistance” brings together the ways in which artists create spaces and conditions for anti-colonial resistance and survival. It critically addresses the colonial demands of constant hypervisibility & transparency, and instead envisions spaces of opacity, a concept coined by Edouard Glissant that urges the right to misunderstand the Other.

 Drawing from Glissant, this program envisions opacity as a political condition of relationality and connection, as it understands resistance as a continuous relational practice that is built on interconnected partial visibilities.
